Sgangala Community Food Gardens NPC is a South African non-profit organisation dedicated to building sustainable, community-led food systems within schools and communities. Founded to address food insecurity, unemployment, and lack of nutrition education, Sgangala works at grassroots level to empower individuals and institutions with practical food-growing skills and resources. Our work centers on establishing and supporting community and school-based food gardens that promote food sovereignty, environmental stewardship, and social cohesion. We take a “seed-to-plate” approach, guiding beneficiaries through the full food value chain — from soil preparation and planting, to harvesting, nutrition education, and plant-based cooking demonstrations.
