Action for Women and Awakening in Rural Environment (AWARE-Uganda) is a grassroots NGO founded in 1989 by local women in Kaabong, Karamoja. It focuses on empowering marginalized women through a holistic approach that integrates health, education, cultural preservation, and economic development. AWARE has significantly contributed to agriculture by engaging over 5,000 women in farming activities, enhancing food security and livelihoods in the region. The organization promotes climate-smart agriculture and supports women entrepreneurs in agribusiness value chains. Through partnerships, AWARE provides access to quality inputs, training, and market linkages, enabling women to participate effectively in agricultural trade.
