Bayira Rural Women's Development Association (BARWODA) is a community-based, non-profit organization based in Kasese District, Western Uganda, dedicated to improving the livelihoods of women, youth, and vulnerable households through sustainable development initiatives. BARWODA works in partnership with local communities, government institutions, civil society organizations, and development partners to address poverty, food insecurity, gender inequality, unemployment, and the impacts of climate change. The organization's core programs focus on sustainable agriculture and food security, women's economic empowerment, youth skills development, maternal and child health, environmental conservation, climate-smart agriculture, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), and community resilience. BARWODA promotes inclusive economic opportunities by supporting farmer groups, strengthening agricultural value chains, improving access to markets, and encouraging entrepreneurship through community-based social enterprises such as the Malimali Maize Mill Project. BARWODA is governed by a Board of Directors and managed by a dedicated team responsible for program implementation, financial management, monitoring and evaluation, and community engagement. The organization operates with principles of transparency, accountability, gender equality, community participation, and sustainability. Through collaborative partnerships and innovative local solutions, BARWODA seeks to empower communities to achieve lasting social and economic transformation across Kasese District and neighboring areas.
